Artistic Director

John-Robert Partridge


John has been Artistic Director of The Attic Theatre since 2009. Graduating from The Birmingham School of Acting (now known as The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire). He has directing over 60 shows for the company which have won numerous awards and accolades.

Alongside his work at the Attic John is a freelance actor, director and producer. He often directs for The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire alongside being a Shakespeare lecturer and audition panelist.

Catherine Prout

Catherine co-founded Tread the Boards alongside her now husband, John-Robert Partridge. Alongside managing the logistics of the company, Catherine is also a key creative in every part of the process – producing, performing, playwriting and designing.

Catherine particularly enjoys adapting novels into new and exciting theatre scripts while always keeping them true to the original authors intent.

Senior Designer

Adam Clarke

Adam has a true passion and talent for designing shows to fit the slightly challenging space of the Attic Theatre.

Adam made his debut during Frankenstein and has gone on to design all the productions since.

His artistic talent has really brought the theatre alive from complex to more sedentary sets giving the actors a stage to shine on.

Production Manager & Technical Designer

Kat Murray

Kat has been working with Tread the Boards since 2009 and works closely with the creative teams to help pull our productions together.

Kat is a key member of the technical team and has designed the lighting and sound for over 50 shows at the Attic Theatre.

Associate Director

Andy Wooley

Andy is Tread the Board’s longest serving Associate Director with a penchant for modern, and often dark, comedy.

No Tread the Boards season is complete without Andy’s unique style of direction on a lesser-known script.

Musical Director & Sound Designer

Elliott Wallis

Elliott trained at the Year Out Drama Company and has been working with Tread the Boards Theatre Company since 2016.

Elliott also runs SE Theatre Company who also do performances at The Attic Theatre.

Elliott is currently Sound No 2 with the tour of Quiz touring the UK.

Pantomime Musical Director

Abigail Drennan

Abigail has been with Tread The Boards since 2021 gracing us with her amazing voice in our Pantomimes along with acting in shows throughout the year.

Abigail was Assistant Musical Director last year for Beauty and The Beast and we can’t wait for her work on Jack and The Beanstalk and Dick Whittington this year

Robert Moore

Bobby keeps our Instagram followers up to date with the exciting information on upcoming shows. From cast releases to facts about the characters and shows.

He also is the one and only Sherlock currently working on more adaptations of the mysteries to come. Bobby is a great actor appearing in shows year round.

Alistair Mcleod

Alistair has been designing for Tread The Boards since 2009. You can enjoy his iconic designs throughout the year.

He is a freelance designer living in Northumberland.
He also creates Websites, Surfs, Snowboards and Skydives..

Denise Prout

Denise has volunteered for Tread The Boards since 2009. She looks after the box office and front of house.Denise brings her warmth and friendly nature to be a support for everyone that is around her.

Front Of House Manager

Kevin Prout

Kev is well known to Tread the Boards regulars. He volunteers at The Attic Theatre working front of house and box office. Kev is famous for his pre and post show announcements and catchphrases.

He has been working with Tread The Boards since 2009

Andrew is a professional midlands based photographer and videographer, owner of Andrew Maguire Photography.He is our resident photographer with his lovely wife for our shows, capturing our actors at their best (and worst!).
